Rock 'n' roll icon Chuck Berry, comedian and "Saturday Night Live" alum Dana Carvey, and Penn and Teller are among the acts announced for the 2011-12 season at the State Theatre in Easton, according to a news release.

Berry, often credited as the "father of rock 'n' roll," became a pop culture icon with his fiery guitar licks, signature "duck walk" and songs such as "Maybellene," "Memphis" and "Johnny B. Goode."

He performs 8 p.m. Nov. 5. Tickets cost $60 and $55.

Carvey is best known for his portrayal of Garth Algar in the films "Wayne's World" and "Wayne's World 2." He first gained national attention for his impressions of former president George H.W. Bush on "Saturday Night Live" and of political figure H. Ross Perot. He was also the star of the short-lived "Dana Carvey Show," whose cast included then-unknown comedians Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert.

He performs 8 p.m. Nov. 4. Tickets cost $52 and $47.

"Conversations with Penn and Teller: 35 Years of Magic and B.S." will include magic, comedy and an audience question-and-answer session with the legendary comedy-magic duo.

They perform 8 p.m. Nov. 8. Tickets cost $45 and $35.

Director John Waters ("Pink Flamingos," "Hairspray") brings his "This Filthy World" tour to the State 8 p.m. on March 8. Tickets cost $35.

Tickets for these shows go on sale Aug. 2 to theater members, and 10 a.m. Aug. 16 to the public.

Comedian Dana Carvey Is Back in Business!

Stand up comedian Dana Carvey, best recognized as “Saturday Night Live’s” Church Lady and as the nebbish metal-obsessed sidekick Garth from “Wayne’s World” as well as for his dead-on impression of the elder George Bush, is going to have three stand up comedy shows in July 14 – 16.

The stand up comedy shows will take place at John Ascuaga’s Nugget, a place just for Dana Carvey’s taste: pretty small, cozy and intimate. The stand up comedian thinks that in smaller venues you can take more chances because it is easier to see if the audience is with you.

Since 2002, stand up comedian Dana Carvey stepped back from the stage to have more time to spend with his family. And he is very glad that he was able to see his children growing. Now that his two boys are about to take their own ways in life, the stand up comedian is ready to be again in the spotlights, this being his first stand up comedy show.
