Pilgrims' progress to Namugongo shrine
Originally, Namugongo was an execution site for criminals, especially those from the royal family and people of high status. The site is said to have been set up by King Kyabaggu who reigned around 1760 and the June 3, 1886 execution of the 13 Protestant and 12 Catholic youths by King Mwanga was the last. The 25 pages were tortured and burnt at the stake for refusing to renounce their Christian faith.

Richard Lawson —Last night's episode of Jersey Devilz was about the giving of thanks, of appreciating loved ones and all the joy and comfort they bring to one's life. It was also about turkeys, about how they are living animals the same as you or me.
Hundreds of pilgrims from around the world flock to the shrine seeking divine healing through prayers, holy water and soil from the shrine. The water comes from the Mukajjanga well — named after the chief executioner — and is believed to be holy.
Nine boys have since won musical scholarships to schools including Eton, Charterhouse, Bedales, King Edward VI, Abingdon and Downside. Winchester College has also offered several scholarships – academic and musical – to Pilgrims' pupils as well.
With productions like last year's “Pilgrim's Progress,” which garnered two Elly Awards, playwright and director Ingrid Laurentiis-Wilson knows her craft. “I founded the theater company in Los Angeles, originally, before I had children.
It evokes the experience of a pilgrim walking around the Ka'aba – the ancient stone sanctuary shrouded in a black cloth, towards which the faithful turn to pray – and the realms they travel through to reach divine light or illumination,

Book, I never hunted it down. And while I had read the children’s adaptation, Dangerous Journey , to my kids, I had never tackled “the real deal” before.
And to be honest, I was a little intimidated. The version I downloaded from Kindle included a very lengthy (and boring) Introduction and it went on for so long, I wondered if that was the book. Thankful to use the forward button, I skipped the rest of it, and jumped into the story.
Yea, though I skip introductions and forsake thy reading of directions, I shall conquer this book.
But God…But God is at work changing me, making me more into the image of His Son, granting me victory over my weaknesses, because of who He is.
And I think Bunyan overlooks some of that in Christian’s tale. Bunyan focuses on sin and repentance, but perhaps he doesn’t emphasize enough the beauty of the burden falling off Christian’s back.
Christian’s journey is a hard one, like the life of a believer often is. But, there is great joy, knowing that we are children of the king.
I didn’t see so much of that in this book. Instead, I got a sense of dread and contrition while reading of Christian’s journey. Is the Christian walk devoid of joy? Absolutely not. But, I don’t know that we see that in this book.
Reading Too Much Into It?Yeah, that’s what hubs said. So, I’m taking things with a grain of salt.
It’s a good book, and I can see lots of wonderfully drawn parallels between story and reality. But, that is the thing to remember. This is story. It’s not the Bible. It’s an allegory. It’s not meant to be a perfect picture of God’s world. Bunyan’s life, experience, and time within history are very different than mine, and so how he processed truth into story will also be different.

I was so excited when I saw that you had this book on your list. What a great book! I think there is always something new to learn when you read it. Did you read the second part about Christiania, Christian’s wife? They seem more joyful in their walk maybe than Christian does.
